Everyone wants to start the year off on the right foot - marketing plans, cash flow projections, sales forecasts, goals and strategies but, before you put pen to paper do these 3 things first.
Before January arrives take a step back and evaluate where you are, where you want to be and make sure that you're putting yourself first. Only once you've done that can you start really planning for success. Read our infographic and follow these 3 things before you do anything else:
1. Review the year
Take time to think about the year, what did you do? What went well? What didn't go so well? What were the lessons you're going to learn from?
Spend 20 minutes writing down what you liked - what you want to repeat and what you don't want to do again this year. Make sure you include what made you happy and what you enjoyed. What made you feel successful? Date it and stick it where you can see it.
2. Reset your vision
Visualising where you want to be and setting what your ultimate dream looks like helps to clearly define where we are going. Think Big! Take time to process it; How will you know when you're there? What does it look like? How will you feel when you get there?
All to often we get caught up on the day to day. Take time out to remember what your dream looks like. Write it down and revisit it often - research shows that visualising your dream helps to achieve it.
3. Plan in 'you' time
Don't forget that life is for living. Before you put anything else in your schedule block out you time and get it booked. Whether that's family holidays, that workshop/course you've been meaning to do, or even time for the gym, mindfulness minutes or time for hobbies. Do it now and fill in work around these 'locked-in' sessions.
You've refocused your mind on what's important, what you enjoy doing, what your vision is and you've blocked out your 'you' time so you can plan properly for the year ahead. Now you know where you're headed and why, your forecasts, strategies and action plans can help you find success in 2018.
